About
The first secondary school-level aviation and engineering club of its kind, run by students since 2022.
Founded in 2022, the Hillview College Aviation and Engineering Club was the first secondary school-level organization of its kind.
It is a student-focused club built around experience, exploration and practical learning. The aim is to let students see what engineering actually looks like beyond the classroom, and to introduce them to the many career paths that sit behind that word.
The club has taken part in numerous engineering, robotics and STEM competitions. These give members the chance to apply classroom knowledge to real problems, and to pick up design, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, teamwork, time management and presentation skills along the way.
We also get out of the building often: field trips to engineering facilities and aviation hangars, and an annual international trip.
What we care about
Members do the thing rather than read about it. Competitions, builds and site visits come first.
Engineering is far wider than most people realise at school. We go and look at as much of it as we can.
Everything we do is meant to leave you with a skill you can use again, not just a fact you can recall.
Every member here started by walking into a Tuesday meeting. Come and find out what the club is working on.
